Who's got a voice?

So, a weird illness has left me without a voice for the better part of the week (ack)!  I seriously haven't been able to sing a note.  The kiddos looked REALLY alarmed the first night it was officially gone.  I attempted to kind of raspy-like sing/rap their traditional goodnight song several keys lower than usual, but apparently failed :-P  Even the young ones with no tonal center gave me weird expressions!  Alas.  As a result, the bulk of my playing time this week as been spent with just the piano and me, (well I guess it's usually just the piano and me, but what I meant was just the piano and my fingers...no voice)!  One I keep coming back to is one of my arrangements of "O My Father".  (Yes, I have others, one for trumpet, and one for tuba and trumpet, in case you were wondering... I know, I kind of like that hymn)!  The melody and chord structure is so basic, yet the truth of it's message that our connection to God in Heaven is real and personal reaches deep in my being.  In preparation for the Sabbath tomorrow, I thought I'd post a rough recording of it, so y'all can enjoy it too.  Just ignore my squeaky bench and pedal ;-)  Oh, and we are in a new ward... I can hardly wait to find out what my new calling will be!  Will it be in music?  Primary?  Something totally new?  The anticipation is almost killing me!  Maybe tomorrow will be the day I find out.  Happy Sabbath!
